A horrific incident happened in Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on Thursday evening as a 23-year-old man grabbed a 5-year-old boy and jumped in front of a moving train. Thanks to the train’s emergency breaking capabilities, the child escaped with minor injuries. Police are describing the incident as an attempted homicide.

The incident occurred as the boy was stood on the station’s platform with his parents and siblings (who are aged 1 and 3). The man, who was a complete stranger to the young German family, approached the group, grabbed the young boy and jumped in front of a moving train with him in his arms.

Although both the perpetrator and the young boy survived the incident, the breaking train still rolled forward a few metres injuring the young boy. The boy was treated for his injuries in hospital following the attack.

No motive has been highlighted in this apparently unprovoked attack. According to the media, however, the Indian migrant was previously known to authorities and was due to be deported soon.
